From the priceless pages of Peterson Publishing's 1966 Motorcycle Sport Book. Some of these parts are hard to find these days, but modifications are a must on the 1964-1968 type Triumph forks if you want to go off road. Instead of removing or cutting down the bushing spacer for more travel I think it would be better to do the other mods mentioned and use the earlier Triumph pre-unit type fork sliders that are longer and possibly slightly extended fork tubes. That way strength is not lost. These are just some of the ways Triumph forks can be modified. The interchangeability of parts makes for a lot of options.
