My idea of how to build up a Terrier chassis. I have a NOS Terrier frame that has been modified this way with the alloy axle plates and a 1962 Cub motor to go in it. I'm still in the parts collecting phase though.
Really ? Does the Terrier tank use the same mounts as the Cub ? I always thought they were a little shorter than the early Unit 500 tanks . I`m kicking myself now , `cos I could have got one of those Terrier tanks last weekend for cheap.Would look great on a little stripped down 500.
I'm not 100% sure on the sizes/mounts of the Terrier and Cub tanks, but I've seen a couple pictures of early unit construction 500's that I think were set up by JoMo that had the Cub style tank. I think they had the Tricor bolt on hardtail too. Really bitchin' looking bikes. I'll probably find the pics again at some point and will post them when I get there.
Terrier and Cub tanks have the same mounts. In the "Triumph Trophy Bible" the 1961 TR5A/C appears with a Cub style tank, but only the badges are Cub. It might be possible to mount a Cub tank on a 500 frame up to 1965. The Cub tank has an inner support that would have to serve as a frame stiffener. Thunderbird Ron
I love the stock tank on the Terrier , super skinny !
ReplyDeleteAND you can put those Cub style tanks on the early 500's with the gooseneck looking frame. They look awesome on a 500.
